Local Film is released!

After more than a year of hard work, we are pleased to announce the release of City of Life on 22 April in the UAE. It will be in most cinema complexes across the country (see below for further details).

This is a very important step in developing the local film industry as this is the first Emirati film to achieve theatrical release (for those of you who do not know it combines three stories and languages being Arabic, Hindi and English and is a true depiction of life in Dubai).

The success of this film is pivotal to the growth and development of the industry.

While we are very proud of the film, we still had to work in restrictive conditions and could only push the envelope so far and still get a release. As it was, this film nearly did not get a release. The eyes of the government and investors are keenly watching what the emotional and financial results of this film will be and it is imperative to try and gain as much attention as possible.

As we do not have budget to market the film in any big way and as local distributors do not put up any marketing money (like in the rest of the world), we would therefore like to request you please send this mail onto everyone you know in the UAE and to please spend the AED30 and take the time out to see the film.

The development and success of the local film industry lies solely in your hands. So please, be part of what we are trying to achieve so future films tackling even more sensitive and important subject matters can be produced.

This circus-goers are enchanted by the laugh-filled story of love, flight, and the quest to build a better birdhouse.

This is a magical place where the factory workers are acrobats and the machines are circus props, where a contortionist performs on a turntable powered by unicyclists, a trapeze artist flies high, and trampoline artists defy gravity. To see the video click here.

Inspired by the industrial murals of Diego Rivera, the outrageous illustrations of cartoonist Rube Goldberg, and the gentle political slapstick of Charlie Chaplin, Birdhouse Factory springs to life with a cast of acrobats, dancers, and clowns drawn from the ranks of Cirque du Soleil, the Pickle Family Circus, and the Moscow Circus. A true cirque nouveau, Cirque Mechanics combines the athleticism and physical prowess of traditional circus with a thoughtful – often poignant – story. Starring: Michael “Tex” Redinger, Elisabeth Page, Ganchimeg Oyunchimeg, Jesse Dryden, Steven Ragatz, Russ Stark, Wes Hatfield, Thayr Harris, Viktoria Shvartsman, Lindsay Orton

Produced by General Entertainment Associates B.V. Directed by Chris Lashua, Co-Director: Aloysia Gavre
